Customers say
Customers like the noise level and speed of the nail drill. For example, they say it’s much quieter than expected, works quickly, and has 2 speeds. They appreciate the performance. That said, some complain about the fit. Opinions are mixed on quality, ease of use, value, and power.

Powerful and ready to go when you are
This is the third grinder I’ve owned, the other two were battery powered and the battery wore out and was almost as expensive to replace as the grinder itself. I was happy to see this product for this price on Amazon, because a corded grinder is going to give you more consistent speeds (the battery powered one would slow down as the battery died). I guess maybe it was because the battery was old but every single time I went to use the thing the battery was totally dead. That meant I had to wait until the next day to do my dogs’ nails. Now that I have two dogs that is unacceptable. The quality of this grinder is nice. It’s not too loud. It has two speeds. The low speed seems to be high enough to get the job done. A little assembly is required, but it’s not difficult. The most important thing is probably tightening the screw that holds the band to the drum. A lot of people have complained about it slipping, but I can tell you the same thing happened on my Dremel until I learned to make sure the band was on tight. There were some concerns from other reviewers about power. I have a 60# dog and on low speed it works fine on her nails. You don’t want this to be too powerful because if you have a dog with long hair and you get hair wrapped around this, you want it to stop. I think it’s good enough to do the job. You’re just filing nails here.My only concern right now is the cord on this is very thin and seems flimsy. And, instead of the cord detaching from the end that goes into the grinder so it would be replaceable, it detaches from the brick that plugs into the wall. So, you could replace the brick, but not the cord. If it breaks, I’ll come back and update my review. I hold onto things forever, so the durability and serviceability are important to me.IF YOU’RE NEW TO GRINDING NAILS:I detest clipping my dogs’ nails. A few years ago I discovered grinding as the way to go and I will never clip again. When I got a puppy and she wasn’t used to the grinder I tried buying clippers on her since she is so much smaller than my other dog (15# versus about 60#). With her nails being smaller and softer I thought I could clip them. The first time I used them went fine. The second time I hit the quick and I don’t know who felt worse, her or me.It doesn’t take long to condition your dog to accept the grinder. I found a video on the internet that walks you through it step-by-step. Start with the grinder off, just show it to her and give her a treat. Then hold the grinder, still off, and put it up to her foot as you hold it and give her a treat. Slowly work your way up to actually grinding and giving her treats often.
Works great on dog nail grinder
I have the dremel dog nail grinder and these worked perfect to refresh the grinding tip. Very easy to install and get value with how many replacements heads it comes with.
Grinder is great after fixing loose belts
Very nice 2 speed grinder that is easy to hold and cord is long enough to be out of the way. The only thing is the reports of belts being loose are correct. Even the belts that come with the grinder itself are loose. I fixed this by using double sided scotch tape that I cut to the correct width and placed one layer tightly around the grinder wheel. I then slipped the sandpaper belt carefully onto the taped wheel. Once it was in the correct spot, I squeezed the belt down onto the taped wheel so that it would adhere to it. I have used the grinder on my medium size dog twice over the course of one month and the belt has not slipped out of place yet. I anticipate that it will eventually slip and I will have to repeat the process. I clip my dogs nails first, then grind them down a little closer and smooth out the rough edges. I do not use the grinder to do all of the nail shortening.
Does it have enough torque? Is it worth the money?
I have 2 pugs that I have trained to tolerate nail trimming with a Dremel-like tool. I have been using a Pedi-Paws for many years. It works well, if you keep fresh batteries in it and if you do not apply much pressure to the grinder end, as it will stop. I think that is a safety measure so that it does not hurt the pup (or you) if the grinder comes in contact with their skin. Although, it worked, it was a VERY tedious process. It would take me over an hour to do one pup. So, I decided to search for a better option, and came across this little gem. After reading the reviews I decided it was economical enough that if it didn’t work, it was not a great loss. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this unit. I would HIGHLY recommend this product! It is AMAZING! I did all nails on all four paws on one of my pugs in less than 10 minutes! It was fast, powerful, easy to use – and was actually very quiet! I LOVE IT! I wish I made the switch sooner! It does not stop rotating when pressure is applied. The cord is long enough so you can find a chair or cozy spot to sit and do your pups nails. The only con is that the grinder end does not have a protective cover, so you have to be sure to control it so you don’t make contact with your fur baby’s paw pads or skin. I am afraid it might cause a friction burn at the very least. My 2 pugs are very good about not moving around, and just lay on their backs in my lap and let me grind away. As a bonus, this comes with its own carrying/storage case which is quite nice! Best find ever!!!!
It’s working perfect ! I love all andis products!
Great
I have medium to large dog with black nails which are hard to know where her quicks are so using nail clippers is not an option.I bought this product because reviews on other cheaper products said they were not strong enough to file. This nail grinder is so worth the money as the time it takes to file the nails down is minimal and using the fast setting even better. My dog let’s me do her nails without much fuss as the noise the grinder makes (low hum) does not stress her out.The only negative is it is a wall powered product but a reasonably long power cord. Non USA buyers it has a US power plug so you will need an adaptor.
